Enviva was founded in 2004 with a mission to displace fossil fuels, grow more trees, and address climate change. Early on, we realized that the real gap in the biomass energy base was not people building and operating the power plants, rather it was the aggregation and the commoditization of fuel. That’s when we focused on sourcing and producing the fuel side of the business, which has been our growth area and the space where we’ve become the largest player.
